Our Mission

The mission of Partners United for Children is to broaden the awareness of the need for foster and adoptive parents in the communities it serves.  It is our intent to enhance and support neighborhood-based, culturally competent foster and adoptive recruitment and retention resources for children and youths entrusted to the state of Connecticut.

About Partners United for Children

Partners United for Children is a collaborative reflective of the communities it represents.  Most of our members are:

Foster and adoptive parents

Child placing agencies

Private sector business community

Community service providers

Board of Education

City and state government

State and local political representatives

Local law enforcement

 

Become a Foster/Adoptive Parent

Ø Complete an inquiry form

Ø Attend an open house to learn more

Ø Have no protective service history and no criminal history

Ø Attend training once a week for 9 weeks

Ø Be in good physical, mental, and emotional health

Ø  Have adequate space for a child

 

The Benefits to You

Ø A monthly stipend to cover the child’s expenses

Ø A social worker who will be available to help with problems

Ø A monthly support group meeting of other parents

Ø Ongoing training sessions, workshops, and conferences
